Review Product

Design: Almost completely encased in shiny black plastic, the Panasonic VIERA X1 TC-L26X1 is quite compact with rounded edges. While the LCD does have built-in speakers, these are relatively invisible from the front. Controls are placed on either side of the frame. Overall, this LCD TV has an understated feel and style to it.

Specifications: The Panasonic VIERA X1 TC-L26X1 comes with an external iPod dock that charges and plays the device when it is plugged in. The LCD TV offers the ability to control the iPod direct from the LCD TV’s remote control. With a 26-inch screen the LCD TV can play movies at 720p in resolution. Connection-wise the LCD TV offers three HDMI inputs (two on the back and one on the side). Other connections include an analog PC input, a single component-video input, an AV input with composite video and an RF input for cable or antenna. An optical digital audio output is also available to pass audio from the iPod to the home audio system. There is also another AV input with composite and S-Video on the side.

Features & Performance: The Panasonic VIERA X1 TC-L26X1 comes with the basic contrast and four global picture modes with a custom mode as well. The LCD TV offers an A.I. picture function that dynamically adjusts the back-light according to program content. Other functions include four ratio options with high-def sources and standard-def sources and a Zoom mode that allows adjustment of horizontal size and vertical position.

While the Panasonic VIERA X1 TC-L26X1 works with an iPhone, iPod Touch, iPod Nano 3G and an iPod Nano 4G the built-in TV speakers are not as good as expected but this isn’t an issue if you’ve already hooked up an external audio system. Video quality remains the same as that on the iPod itself. Overall, the Panasonic VIERA X1 TC-L26X1 is an interesting add-on to your home theater system, especially if you’ve been looking for an LCD HDTV that can play well with your beloved iPod device of choice.

This is a great little TV for the money. I hooked up my PS3 via HDMI and the picture quality is real nice. I thought the screen size might be too small but it’s just right for me sitting about 3 feet away. People are saying the internal speakers suck. I attached external ones so I can’t comment about the sound quality.

Samsung PN50B650 50-Inch 1080p Plasma HDTV

Rating Product :Samsung PN50B650

Design: Maintaining Samsung’s minimalist approach, the Samsung PN50B650 looks sleek and simple. While it still follows the Touch of Color design there is only a hint of red in the frame for a more subtle effect. The panel is glossy black with the usual curve to the bottom which leads to the glass topped stand, allowing the frame to swivel side to side.

Specifications: Featuring a 50 inch plasma screen with 1920×1080 a resolution and a 600Hz refresh rate to reduce blurring, the Samsung PN50B650 can handle 1080p/24 sources. Connection-wise the HDTV offers three HDMI ports, two component-video inputs, one VGA port, one RF input for cable and satellite, an Ethernet port, one stereo analog and one optical digital audio output. A side panel offers another HDMI, 2 USB ports and a AV input.

Features & Performance: The Samsung PN50B650 retains the same menu and remote as last year’s model which is good since both are easy to use. With an Internet connection plugged in via the Ethernet port you can get Yahoo Widgets and other online streaming content. You can also hook up via the USB ports with a flash memory drive or digital camera.

The HDTV offers a lot of picture tweak options including four adjustable picture modes, five color temperature presets, three levels of noise reduction, a film mode to engage 2:3 pull-down, a seven-position gamma control, a dynamic contrast control, a black-level setting and there is also a color space control that lets you tweak the Samsung’s color gamut. There is also a “screen burn” menu with many options to address the issue should it occur. Performance-wise the set scaled up to 1080p with no problems, delivering awesome color accuracy and smooth performance. With superb blacks the HDTV delivers a deep and rich shade of black making everything look more realistic.

Overall, the Samsung PN50B650 is an excellent mid-range plasma HDTV that offers and impressive and extensive feature set for all the control you could want or need. Its network connectivity and other features are great value-added extras.
